about me

Hi, my name is Aven Jones! I am a biomedical artist and visualization specialist based in Washington, DC. With a background in both biology and design, I combine my knowledge of medical science and artistic expertise to create visual solutions that communicate complex medical topics to a diverse audience. My work spans a range of media, including 2D and 3D illustrations, animations, and interactive experiences. In particular, I specialize in both the design and development of didactic interactive tools, from virtual reality to e-learning to educational video games.

Drawing on my deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, cellular biology, and disease processes, as well as knowledge of design principles and emerging technologies, I strive to create compelling and accurate visualizations that engage and educate viewers, from medical students to healthcare professionals and the healthcare industry at large. With a commitment to staying up-to-date on the latest trends and techniques in medical illustration and interactive design, I bring a unique perspective to every project. Through bridging the gap between medicine and art, I hope to make scientific concepts accessible and come to life for wider audiences.

I earned a Master’s of Science degree in Biomedical Visualization from the University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Scientific Illustration from the University of Georgia.
