Protein induced

membrane fusion

Autodesk Maya, Bifrost, MASH, Adobe After Effects

The objective of the animation is to teach advanced undergraduate or graduate level students studying cellular biology about the proteins involved in mediating vesicle fusion with the plasma membrane in neurons. The animation highlights six proteins and depicts their interactions with the goal that students will be able to recall which proteins are involved and what their role in the fusion process is.

The storyboard below exhibits an important step in the animation pre-production process where the sequence of animation shots is conceptualized alongside the script to visually plan the moments of the story. This storyboard in particular was rendered in full color to begin considering colors and materials as well.
