My Role: Experiential Designer, Content Researcher, Project Manager
Programmer: Hannah Koffman
Art Director: Dalena Huynh
This application prototype aims to teach M1 students or future healthcare providers in a specialty program for dermatology about melanoma. Specifically, learning goals include differentiating the different stages and the progression of melanoma, recalling the identifying characteristics of each type of melanoma, and relating the type of melanoma to regions on the body where it is commonly found. Another important goal of the app is to help health care professionals become more aware that all skin tones can get skin cancer (although with varying probability) so that future healthcare providers will not rule out skin cancer when patients of color have suspicious changes to their skin.
For this project, my roles included the experiential designer, content researcher, and project manager. I conducted research on melanoma in order to determine what information would be useful to understand about diagnosing melanoma. I then designed a layout and app functionalities, considering our learning objectives and the order in which users would need to encounter the information. The images show the process from an initial layout sketch to the prototype application design.
