This immersive VR game places the player in a fantastical Avocado hospital that has become haunted by ghost peppers. The player must zap the ghost peppers, clean up their ghost goo, and then undergo the sterile surgical scrub-in in order to perform an emergency pit-replacement surgery. Deigned for medical students, the game reinforces the concept of sterility and teaches the steps involved in the surgical scrub-in process in an engaging and novel way.
As the lead programmer, my role was to program the game mechanics and the virtual reality functionalities for the Meta Oculus Quest 2 headset using Unity game engine. I wrote scripts to trigger game object animations, keep doors locked until the player had accomplished certain tasks, and track the sequential steps of the scrub-in process as the user completed them. I created grabbable game objects, grab points, and conditional input bridge actions for the Oculus Quest 2 controllers. I also integrated all of the art assets into Unity, as well as designed and implemented easy to understand user interface designed for virtual reality.
